Thanks for all encouragement

22 09 2008

We need all the comments and encouragement we can get people…Donna  says Mississippi is ALL UPHILL!  I said that Eleanor Roosevelt said that “nothing that isn’t hard is worth doing.”  Donna replied, “that’s a really dumb thing to say %$#@%^!!!!!”

And so we climbed, and climbed and climbed.  It’s one thing to climb a hill on a road bike with nothing but your butt to carry up…add 75 lbs to that, and hills suddenly look like the Alps.

All of you have no idea how much we appreciate all of the comments and encouragement.  At the end of day two, we are pretty tired, a little sunburned (with gorgeous tan lines), and verrrryyyy sore (soar).

So, keep em coming…more photos to come.

PS…We stopped for a cup of coffee (with our cool camping burner), and Donna accidentally stepped in a fire ant mound…luckily, I was prepared with some anti-sting wipes in my handy dandy first aid kit….haha.

See you all soon…thanks, again.

French Camp and Beyond

22 09 2008

We made it to our first night’s destination (French Camp, Mississippi).  Wheeeeew! Bike Touring…with 75 lbs on the rear rack….that’s a little different from the 20 lb Cervelo and Donna’s 16 lb Specialized.

Anyhow…we just got internet access and wanted to say hello to anyone who’s interested before we set out today. Natalie came down yesterday to rescue us and bring (and take back) supplies that we did or didn’t need….it sure was nice to have her roll in when we were extremely exhausted.

Check out the few photos we have posted under the photos page above.

Donna says Jennifer L. (you know who you are)…I expect a comment today.

Rain Delay

20 09 2008

Hello everyone,

Okay, so the weather is not cooperating…we are patiently awaiting a slight break in the weather…rain is sweeping across Mississippi directly over our route.

It’s supposed to move out and through by tomorrow, so we are delaying one day and adding one day to the back end of the trip.

Send out Sunny Sky mantras for us and keep writing.

Incidentally, Donna refused to pedal in the rain…of course, I would have given it a shot (wink, wink).

The Natchez Trace Parkway Bike Touring Trip – Maiden Voyage

19 09 2008

Hello friends, members, and saddle supporters…this is Lisa writing.  Just to let you all know – Donna and I are headed out tomorrow to begin our 400 mile tour through Mississippi.  The bikes are ready…we think we are ready, and we’ll keep you updated via this blog throughout the trip.

Feel free to blog back and keep us up-to-date on gym activities, political developments, and economic news…we will be on our bikes for 8 hours a day, so there won’t be much time for current events.

This trip is our first touring trip to launch our new InsideOut Gym Bike Adventure division.  We are accepting all ideas and suggestions for possible names of the Adventure part of the company (ie. Blues City Rollers, Pedal Pushers, Big Wheels Keep on Turning, etc), so send your ideas.

We’ll see you in a week or so.
